The seventh bi-annual CINETS conference is hosted at Leiden Law School in July 2026, organised in collaboration with Border Criminologies.

The theme “Crimmigration in an Age of Authoritarian Drift” examines how punitive migration control operates as governance and political performance amid democratic erosion and far-right populism.

Key themes include Trump-era legacies, European pushbacks and externalisation, digital authoritarianism, penal border regimes, colonial continuities, law and resistance, and comparative authoritarianism.

Abstract submission has closed; non-presenting attendees may register via Leiden University Professional Education. The final program is expected before the end of March.
